About

We started building websites way back in the days of Hotdog Pro, an early HTML program. It was time-consuming and a bit clunky, but we managed to learn the ins and outs after many long hours of trial and error. We were an early adopter of Microsoft’s FrontPage program, which was one of the first WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) programs. It sped up the design process and in-depth knowledge of HTML wasn’t quite as critical, although it helped when things went wrong.

After building numerous sites with FrontPage we began to notice the many benefits of WordPress. We liked the fact that it was far easier to write blogs and add updated content without the struggle of reorganizing entire pages. It also became apparent that search engines like Google were starting to index up-to-date content instead of static pages, and, of course, these days it’s all about getting noticed. We built our first site with WordPress and were surprised to find that it came up first in a Google search within a week or so. We could see that this was the direction to go. We also liked that our clients could quite easily update the content on their own, with virtually no coding knowledge.

One distinct advantage of WordPress is the hundreds of what are called “plug-ins” that serve to expand the design possibilities for a site. The Dynamic Content Gallery you see on our opening page is a good example of a plug-in. These plug-ins are usually available free from a number of developers and many provide excellent support when things go wrong. WordPress is constantly evolving, with new versions coming out frequently and these developers work very hard to keep their plug-ins compatible as well.

Another advantage of using WordPress is the thousands of templates available for just about every conceivable type of business or venture. We are members of Brain Gardner’s StudioPress group and he has designed several very effective templates for WordPress, all of them very professional looking.

Our monthly payment option is a new approach for us. We accept that we will do a lot of up-front work before we eventually recoup our costs, but we think it is a very affordable way for small business owners to get a site up and running without the usual expensive up-front costs. We do ask our clients to commit for a given contract period depending on the plan they choose and we accept that this can be risky, but we also have faith that oour clients will appreciate this opportunity to join the world wide web and will honor their contracts accordingly.
